Anyone running Kodak Cineon currently? - KayBee - 02-07-2021

Curious if this runs, I may be able to get and scan a user manual.

Cheers,

I remember you telling me in a PM about your previous experience with Cineon. Would there be any point in running Cineon if you don't have the film scanner or film printer for it? Also... Is it even possible to get that nowadays? Better question... Do you know if you can send Cineon files to Kodak and have them print them onto film? I've thought about taking a student film, getting some prints made, and then giving them to potential employers as a little souvenir at interviews. I'm not sure if that would look good to the employers though.

There is a working version floating around.  here are my notes on it (edit - installed it on an o2 running 6.5.22):

the cineon install backs up and replaces fm.  Either backup fm or do this after the install

cp /usr/sbin/OLDfm /usr/sbin/fm (or even better "/usr/cineon/etc/install/install_desktop remove")

Installing the Tiffen software also breaks cineon
if you are having issues after installing the Tiffen package, aka this message:

Error: Cineon: Can't Open Display
Program aborting in KaMemory::new() due to request for 28 bytes of dynamic memory.
Terminated on signal 6 (core dumped)

either delete or rename the tiffen folder:

cd /usr/local
mv tiffen tiffenOLD
