Fuel V10 Sensor fault - roach-commuter - 02-01-2021
I just swapped the motherboard on my Fuel because the previous mobo had faults in sensors and wouldn't be powered up no matter what. The new one boots but here's the catch. When I isssue the command "l1cmd env" I get the following reading for the ODYSSEY card temperature
ODYSSEY Disabled Disabled Disabled Disabled 93C/199F
The env monitoring is disabled else it would power down immediately. Note: the card is working normally and that temperature reading is blatantly fake. I even get it when the machine is powered down.
Is there anything I can try to fix it? Anybody knows where the sensor is on the card ?

I’ve heard tell that the V cards have a DS1780 IC on them. I’ve only heard a single reference to this and I thought it said it was hidden under a larger coverage area heat sink.
While I’ve not done one before, I do have a stash of DS1780 ICs I bought in hopes of future fuel ownership. If you like (depends on your location) I should be able to replace the fuel mainboard ICs for you to get good env readings again.
But yeah, I was told the high end graphics card have the same IC on them. But never found a picture or good explanation as to the exact location.
It’s a rather smallest IC, I think it’s TSSOP packaged?

The dallas chip on the cards isn't an env monitor chip AFAIK but I could be wrong.
Unfortunately OP you've discovered one of the biggest issues with Fuels. If you don't mind, keep the broken parts. These are getting too rare for people to trash or recycle.

Sadly it's true. I feel there will be a time when they no longer can be fixed

Thanks ! I'll keep that in mind. Unfortunately I am in Italy and it does make it a bit difficult to move things back and forth across
