IRIX Network 2021: Happy New Year and Roadmap -
Raion - 01-08-2021
Greetings everyone and I hope you had a great new year.
I know I'm a bit late to the punchline, but that's because I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to say, and more so to prioritize what my plans are for this year.
To recap, this past year I relaunched the Patreon, brought more staff onboard to help with administrative decisions, redesigned the marketplace and have been working off and on towards the IRIX CE Patchset 1.
We also had a couple of struggles. In particular we had a couple of trolls who came in with malignant intentions to cause havoc and moreover, distract and detail our goals as a community. I'm glad that we were able to quickly move past those and moreover eliminate that problem by years end.
With the past year in retrospective, I wanted to speak about my goals this year. Nekoware II is out of my control, as Axatax is still working on it last I heard in December. I have my own personal projects I'm also working on but those are going to take time to be ready for prime time. I hope to bring Patchset 1 of IRIX CE out soon, get the rest of irixce.org online, and bring out a round of wiki guides to better help users. I think that's all on the table for the next couple of months and I should be able to finish that all soon.
I am starting off the New Year on a better foot than last year, especially financially, so expect more paid developer work to be done especially to the site. I'm also floating the idea of getting a community member or two to do some wiki articles and graphics in exchange for some money,.expect an announcement on that within the next couple of months once I make a decision.
I definitely encourage the other staff members to chime in and talk about what their plans are as I haven't the faintest clue.

Will domain certificate renewal become automatic this year?

Well, it's a problem that's caused by the python script breaking every so often. I do have it running on a cron, but I don't always get notified if it fails to renew for reasons unknown to me.
The biggest issue is that I can't afford commercial SSLs, so we're limited to "Let's Encrypt" and let's just say, their certbot code is shitty.
Also, for some reason browsers like to "cache" certificates. I fixed this about 20 mins ago, and just now my browser updated it.
