Environment Setup problem - def13 - 09-16-2020

Hello  Smile

After a long time, I've switch on my Octane and I've discovered two stranges things :
1- I don't find the aliases of softwares I've previewly install in Icon Catalog/Applications (Blender, Firefox, Mokey, Shake, Lightwave …) except big products like Adobe's softwares, Maya (…). After a quick searh, I found two ".desktop-…" folders in UnixRoot ; so that's means I got two Environment Setup and that's true (and it's confirmed by reading Desktop Environment Setup manager and etc/hosts) :

Code:

#192.xxx.xxx.xxx IRIS
192.xxx.xxx.xxx IRIS.home.local. IRIS

Actually IRIS.home.local looks to be the default environment.

How could I restore or fusion these environment folders to keep only one Environment without create a bullsh!t ?

2- The second is I've observe the clock is a little bit late (about 10 minutes) according to you, does it could be a symptome of a weakness of the Dallas module ?

Thanks for your answers.

You can copy the contents of the desktop from one into the other of the host name that you want to keep. I turned off timeslave and timed and set the clock manually as SGI is no longer around to patch the OS for time changes. Last time change change was a few years back. Just manually set it using a site that is synced to an atomic clock.

If you are concerned this will be an ongoing issue you probably want to setup how new desktops are handled, you can do this with `/usr/lib/desktop/makeDotDesktop`,  It is a GUI app that lets you specify default behavior. But for dealing with an existing one, yeah you can just delete the one you don't want and copy the correct one over.
