Hello large scale Nerds! - PacMaN_2k1 - 08-03-2018

i am proud to announce that i am now a member of the sgi family Biggrin Wink
btw. yes it's the year 2018!
since cebit 1994 i always wanted one and now i got one (for almost nothing : 6,50€ on ebay + i had to drive 50 km to get it)
couldn't try it out yet, so far i pulled out the boards and power supply to clean but i'm still waiting for my monitor. (btw. if anyone has a 13w3 adapter to sell??)
the machine i got : it's an original green octane 1, but it looks like the specs had been upgraded to octane 2. all ram slots are populated (2GB) and there is a vpro v6 in it Smile
any suggestions how to start and what to think of before turning it on the first time??

Take an air compressor and blow the dust out of it.

Reseat every board and the PSU since it's probably been sitting for a while.

Ensure you hear all three fans kick on. There's on at the top of the rear, one in the PSU and one in the front on the frontplane.

thanks for that hints!
yeah i already sprayed 1 can of compressed air through the power supply, should be clean now, the rest looks pretty good.
but reseating seems like a good idea! Smile
well, i will also try to set up a youtube channel (computer history (hardware/software etc.)) and need some software. anyone knows where i can get : Wavefronts "The Advanced Visualizer"???

Also take special care not to touch the compression contacts on the ends of the boards - they are very sensitive and easy to break, don't blow compressed air directly on those

I'm uploading it to the FTP, I don't have any licensing info though

edit: I have the ISO's of the two CD's if anyone would prefer those let me know. BTW this is version 4.2.1

Lucy huh. Every time I hear that name I automatically think of the protagonist of Elfen Lied, aka Kaede (Lucy was a name researchers gave her)
