Dear Members,
Firstly my sincere apology for the service continuity incident this morning between 06:15 and 08:15 GMT culminating in roughly 2 minutes of aggregated downtime. There are things going on in the background which I feel in hindsight should have been communicated better and that is entirely on me. IRIXNet is receiving a significant data capacity upgrade over the next week and to allow that to happen as smoothly as possible one of the compute nodes was migrated this morning. The migration did not go as expected due to a misconfiguration in the l2xcon.
The capacity is required for the new projects being coordinated (principally by Raion).
Once again, my sincere apology for any inconvenience caused. There are no further expected disruptions, although for a period of time the site will have additional load due to the migration processing.
To Author and To Serve

I'm sure anyone who noticed appreciates the heads up, but the apology is not really needed. Enough of the old timers here cut their teeth on dial-ups so network interruptions and server outages do not scare us. So long as it eventually comes back up. I Appreciate your efforts!

I agree.
Also, let's all keep in mind that for most (maybe even all) of us, visiting this site is part of a hobby. A little down time is no big deal. It's not like this site is running a nuclear power plant or a hospital or the world's banking industry or anything else that can't tolerate a couple hours of intermittent "service continuity" issues. I really hope nobody complains about it.
