FTP/RSYNC Updates are being rolled out - Raion - 08-14-2020

Thanks to defaultrouteuk, I can finally start getting more of our stuff out in a more secure fashion that allows for rsync, ftp etc.

See the http://irixnet.org/files.html page.

usftp is no longer the default, now you can use the "ftp" subdomain to automatically get round-robin'd to either the US or UK server. Additionally, rsync.irixnet.org is now live for easy rsyncing.

Nekoware is back on the ftp, as well. Nekofiles will remain for other non-nekoware stuff, and I probably won't convert that to an FTP server. However, tgcware will be available once I've figured out where it's gonna go. I would consider freeware, but it's mostly redundant compared to Nekoware, and there may be a chance that my version is incomplete? I dunno.

Phase II roadmap:

Make solaris.irixnet.org on both UK and US servers with ftp, rsync added.

Make nonfree also available on both us/uk - no ftp/rsync though.

Phase III:

I hate to say it, but I don't think the UK server is correctly configured.  When I go directly to http://usftp.irixnet.org I get the expected content.  But http://ukftp.irixnet.org provides somebody else's web page.  When using plain http://ftp.irixnet.org (such as when clicking on the link at http://irixnet.org/files.html) what I see depends on which address the round-robin algorithm gives me.  So at the moment, I have to manually specify usftp.

Oh no. Looks like the iocage is messed up...

Give me a bit.

Looks like IP routing issues... ugh. This is gonna take a while. Deleting those round-robin records for now.

Still working on it, the ftp will be up/down while I try to work this crap out.

Edit: I give up for tonight. Will resume tomorrow.

Continued issues with this are causing downtime on the us and UK servers both. Please be patient.

One set of bugs squished. We're working on the rest guys, bear with us...

So we're dealing with a strange bug involving the FTP server on UKFTP, even after replicating the original it is causing issues where a user can't connect to pure-ftpd anonymously. We'll be thus tabling this until such time we can revisit it. The USFTP works, and I'll update the page accordingly later tonight or tomorrow.
