Challenge S keyboard errors - darkhelmet02 - 08-07-2020

When I use my Challenge S over serial, I still get the following:
Code:
Cannot connect to keyboard -- check the cable.
Cannot open keyboard() for input
Cannot connect to keyboard -- check the cable.
Cannot open keyboard() for input
Is there a way to make the PROM ignore this error? I want it to simply boot into IRIX when I press the power button.

Uhh, are you sure that's a Challenge S? They don't have a keyboard port...

And if you go into the command monitor and `setenv console d` it should fix that... but I'd be more concerned that your Challenge S doesn't know it's a Challenge S...

Yeah, it is definitely a Challenge S, it has no keyboard and mouse ports, no vino system at all, and the speaker doesn't play the startup chime of an Indy. I wouldn't be surprised if the PROM was swapped or something though, because it seems like it shouldn't be looking for a keyboard at all. That did the trick though, it boots straight into IRIX after power on diagnostics. Thanks!

Happy to help... just... weird hah.
On the Indy / Challenge are those values saved in the dallas chip? Maybe an Indy chip was swapped into a Challenge S to get it booting and had leftover settings stored?
