What was your first 3D game console? - Mario9501 - 06-25-2020

Mine was the N64 and my first game was Super Mario 64. The N64 is what made me interested in SGI computers when I found out what company helped make the machine.

Mine was the PS1. I loved Playing: Silent Hill, MetalGear Solid, Tekken3 and Need For Speed High Stakes, back in the day!

I had no idea of SGI’s existence at the time!

I had a PlayStation but I never was really intrigued by it as a child.

It was the Nintendo 64 which first blew my mind with games like Star Fox, Mario Party, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, GoldenEye 007, and Perfect Dark.

Well, the C64 was console-like (and even came in a full console version called the C64GS) and it did have Stellar 7 and Elite!

Mmmm....8-bit graphics.

Nintendo 64 for me.
I was gifted one for my birthday in 1999. The pack that was bundled Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer. #HappiestKidEver

So many hours spent with titles such as GoldenEye 64, Perfect Dark, 007: TWINE, Pilotwings 64, Zelda: OoT, Zelda: MM, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Mario Kart 64, Mission Impossible, Road Rash 64, Lylat Wars (Starfox 64 is what it was called in NTSC regions), Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Starcraft 64, plus more...

I even remember the special 'Competition Pro' branded turbo controller I had for it.

Had no idea who SGI were or their involvement with the console until I sold it on by the early-mid 2000s. On second thought, I really ought to have held on to it given how much those cartridge games are worth now.

My first was probably the Playstation (the original), purchased with Spyro the Dragon back in '96 or whenever (it was an adult purchase).

It was also only the second console I'd ever played, the first being the Atari 2600.

I've had a few more since, especially the GameCube, which remains my favorite.

Any console or specifically 3d?

I started like most kids from the 70s-80s with an Atari 2600, a few people had intellivision and even played an Odyssee 2.

There were some arcade games that felt 3D like the old Star Wars vector graphic game.

Then came
Nintendo
Commodore 64

IMB 80286 and Wing Commander was closer to 3D.

Super Nintendo... and I think that the StarFox game was the first real 3D tech I had played with at a console level.

Nintendo 64 ...which might have been the first real 3d console at concept. Played Mario 64 and Zelda 64

Playstation 1. Bought it just for Final Fantasy 7.

3D?
Well - we didn't have much money back home, so me and my neighbours got things as a community.

The first console I got to own, 3D, was a PS2.
But I played tons of N64, and the late nights of cursing at Mario Kart with my friends.
Had access to PS1 as well.

Owned:
Atari 2600
Master System
Mega Drive (japanese)
PS2, PS3, PS4
Wii U
3DS

I hardly ever play these days - I spend my fun time with the old UNIX boxes =))))

Comanche: Maximum Overkill in 1992 (too sad to see that Voxel are still niche render engines as it's quite impressive IMO...)
