Has anyone tried this on a Fuel?
SCSI2SD emulator/SSD, version 6, Revision 2020a

I edited your post because the text formatting broke up on some themes.
Anyways, the SCSI2SD is for a very old version of SCSI (SCSI 2) and the U160 bus of the Fuel is many times faster than the SCSI2SD, so it's a poor option. It's a good option on an Indy or Indigo2, but not on an Octane or higher.
You are better off getting a 15k RPM U320 SCSI disk on Ebay and using that over this.

No, but see my speed testing here:
http://forums.irixnet.org/thread-2004.html
TL;DR For anything newer than an Indy/Indigo2, the SCSI2SD will be much slower than a 10-15k RPM SCSI disk.

Or if it's just speed you are looking for. Get a LSI SAS3041X-R and add a SSD disk. You can't boot from them, but you can make a small boot partition to load the kernel from an internal SCSI disk and put the rest on the SSD.

Does the LSI SAS3041X-R have native support in IRIX, or does it need drivers?

It has native drivers. I run this setup on my Tezro and the performance difference compared to a 15k rpm disk is huge.

Hi Fascia,
see this thread:

Support is only post boot.
Cheers from Oz,
John.
