Tabletop RPGs - Raion - 01-14-2020

Do you play them? Let's hear your stories.

I got into D&D in college, it was still 4e then, and I wasn't that big of a fan but played to be social. I got back into it once 5e came out, and my friends at a comic shop started, that was also how I met my current girlfriend.

I enjoy the storytelling and acting aspects of it. I enjoy making up characters. I've also played:

Pathfinder 1st Edition
Call of Cthulhu
And some other game I can't remember.

I have been a DM a few times, but only once for a serious campaign, and I don't envy others here. It's a hard thing to do.

I've done a few sessions here and there - a couple abortive attempts with D&D 3.5 back in college, and a brief two-session campaign in 5e with some friends when one of the group came back from overseas briefly the week before last. Never got into it seriously, but it's fun Smile

No tabletop games for me, I have though recently become interested in Magic The Gathering...can't find any local groups though.

I've been a game master for various tabletop RPG systems ranging from D&D (2E-5E) to Chronicles of Darkness to Star Wars (D6, D20, and FFG) for over 20 years. My experience as a player is a little more limited, as I'm usually the one running things for my group of friends. Fortunately, I've been a player in multiple wonderful campaigns even so. Running tabletop RPGs is one of my favorite hobbies, due to the endless interactivity of the game and the social environment it creates. There's nothing quite like it.

I'm currently running a game of Lancer, a mech RPG, for a group of friends back from my home in the Midwest US. We use Roll20 to play online and it works very well. Some things are a little finicky, like the webcam displays and hex grids, but it's done well for us for four or so different games so far.

My forum avatar is actually the Dungeon Master from the 1980's Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, mostly because I like his derpy expressions. Biggrin
