I prefer the textures on the V12 but both look great!

The textures on the V12 do appear to be sharper, as there's no antialiasing being applied to them, so there are pro's and cons to full screen antialiasing.

There are lots of jaggies in the V12's rendering in comparison.

There are also artefacts present around the lava in the V12's rendering that aren't present in the XVR-4000's rendering.

Here's a combined picture:

Still a great bit of kit!

I have managed to sharpen up the textures rendered by the XVR-4000, by applying a catmall filter. (the right-hand side of this image shows the catmull filter in effect)

That does improve the visual quality. Does it take a hit on the FPS?

There was no performance hit.

Nice.
Why the first images are rendered so blurry?
What fb settings are you using for the X4k under Solaris?

The AA performance was one of the killer features to buy V880z's including these board(s).

These are the filter options available for the XVR-4000 and I think that it was using the gaussian filter.

Maybe you have the time to show one result image for each filter? That would be of interest to me too.

Because of missing $ for that kind of bigger Sun iron I'm very pleased that you are able to own one and play with it, so could limit myself to the amazement. Smile
