Indigo2 (green) 13W3->modern Monitor - dettus - 11-24-2019

Hello.

I am Thomas, I am new to this forum.
Today, I pulled my green Indigo2 out of the Mothballs, in which it was stuck for the last 15 years. Smile

What a remarkable machine! It is still booting, I was able to log on via SSH (albeit by adding the ssh -c aes256-cbc parameter), play some music, do some coding and play some games.

Alas, I was not able to connect a modern monitor to it.
What I did was to use a Flat-Screen LCD with a 13W3 -> VGA adapter. However, the screen remained black, the Montior was complaining about "No signal connection".

It might be one of three causes:

1. The Monitor is not suitable for IRIX
2. The 13W3 adapter does not work with SGI machines (Even though it works with SUN, i checked)
3. The Graphics card is broken.

Regarding 1: It does not even show me the boot screen. Can anybody tell me what resolution/refresh rate that would have?
Regarding 2: Is SUN 13W3 different from SGI 13W3?
Regarding 3: I do have a spare graphics card, but it is tough to change them. Is it worth the efford?

I have seen people complain that some 13w3 adapters that work on Sun machines don't work on SGIs. You should probably pick one up that's specifically made for SGI machines.

Indeed that is the case; the Sun and SGI 13W3 connectors are different. We believe in standards, that's why we have so many of them! Tongue
