Time appropriate Blender version for 8bit Indy R4400 -
bjames - 11-04-2019
Hi All
For kicks, I want to install a version of Blender onto a low spec Indy R4400 with 8 bit GFX, but I m looking for a version that would be appropriate for the era of when the Indy was relatively new. I will be using IRIX 6.5.

6.5 doesn't do well with less than 64M of RAM, just an FYI

I've tried to run Blender on my Indy R4000, and it said that it wasn't compatible with the R4000 CPU architecture. Maybe very early versions of Blender were.

That may just be a compile-time decision. If the Blender version you tried was compiled for MIPS4 (like most of Nekoware used to be), it could just be a matter of re-compiling (or finding a pre-built binary) for MIPS3 instead.

Maybe Blender 1? I saw a video of People running V1 on an Indy on youtube

I have run Blender 2.45 and made a video of it running on my Indy R5000. But that's an R5000.

Thanks guys, I do recall a version (2.43?) that was made for mips 4. I may download a few versions. I also just remembered that one of my hot mix cds from irix 6.5.6 had blender that I used on my indigo 2 r4400 I had back in 1999.
