Is there sound support while using this guy?

RE: RE: SoftWindows 2.0 - Irinikus - 10-02-2019

The set of drivers that it has are generally incompatible with DOS games unfortunately.

You also don't get sound for DOS games in SoftWindows 95.

DosBox is better in this aspect, as it emulates a 16-Bit sound-blaster.

That's no good -- is there any kind of work around? The NES emulator runs really well, would be nice to have some game music.. haha

I will try to look into it when I have time.

Thanks man, in the mean time, what's the best DOSbox package to use?

RE: RE: SoftWindows 2.0 - Irinikus - 10-02-2019

Here's a link to the one I use: http://www.darklab.net/unix/irix/dosbox-73-gcc-O3-optimizations-working-opengl.tar.gz

The link was supplied by necron2600.

RE: RE: SoftWindows 2.0 - Jacques - 10-02-2019

DOSBox is by far your best bet for old DOS games. I used to play all my favourite ScummVM games on DOSBox, in addition to Full Throttle, Willy Beamish and Wing Commander Smile

It's a pity that Soft Windows 2.0 doesn't have sound, as it has far better performance than DosBox has: (We need to find a solution to this problem!)

100 %

the dos environment in SoftWindows 2.0 is quite nice -- nesticle runs the NES roms pretty quick, not sure how it would slow down with the introduction of sound though.

any tips on tweaking the dosbox config for irix?
