Are there current desktop uses for a 1.25ghz MDD?
Or are they door stops?

Other than owning a piece of computer history, I doubt it!
Interesting question though, as most of the stuff that we collect would be seen by average people as door stops!

Yep, thought as much.

GliderPro. Also the surfeit of good art/multimedia software for PPC Macs.

What gets me down and disappointed is quite capable hardware is made uselesss bu bloat software.
Useless as in an old car is still good to drive and gets you from A to B in style.

It's a bloody nice looking door stop, if you can get one in good condition!

G4 systems are starting to get long in the tooth, and unless you are running Leopard or Linux, there isnt much you can do with these systems. I still use a G5 on the regular, but its only getting harder to use it every year.

Never seen GliderPro before, new to me
I fondly remember working on a 450Mhz G3 PowerMac at the BAT centre (Bartle Arts Theatre) in Durban, South Africa when GraphiSoft were doing client demos of ArchiCAD 5. Only programs I'd probably use in this day and age on a G4 would be Nikon Capture NX 1.5, ArchiCAD 7/8 and Adobe CS2 / CS3 stuff. But finding those would be a PITA.
Not really that interested in the G5 as it's too close in styling / format as the Intel Mac Pro.

You could always see if some of that has been saved to Macintoshgarden.org. I dont mind the style of the G5. It hides under my desk, so I dont have to see it.

Oh I don't mind the styling, I have a 2010 Mac Pro so well happy with the cheesegrater look.
I had the option of picking up a dual 1.25Ghz MDD near me for £10, decided not to as I can't deal with more computer clutter right now. I've already packed my Octane away, I don't want to replace one wind tunnel with another. And I'd probably fix it to a point then just put it away.
