SunPaint, SunWrite, SunDraw - necron2600 - 06-20-2018

Anyone have these historical software?.. maybe to show screenshots for everyone to see what they look like (and expect a PM too)?

Yes! Here:
<URL url="http://www.typewritten.org/Software/#Sun">http://www.typewritten.org/Software/#Sun
<URL url="http://www.typewritten.org/Media/">http://www.typewritten.org/Media/

Unfortunatelly the person/group behind the website doesn't even answer electronic mail. It seems it's some kind of private collection. (?)

As I remember you need license keys for these three applications. So even if you get them, they're not really useful w/o lic keys.

The typewritten.org site is run by R. Stricklin, who was on Nekochan as "bear". He's also on some of the other forums and mailing lists that deal with vintage computers. The site does document his personal/private collection. He's pretty helpful with advice and suggestions for hardware repair and troubleshooting. He used to (probably still does) make it clear on his website that his media collection is not for sale or trade and that such requests would be ignored.

Even then he doesn't answer on any mail. So of no help, at least for me.

RE: SunPaint, SunWrite, SunDraw - bear - 10-25-2018

Yes, it's my site.

Yes, the Island suite requires keys tied to the hostid.

I get a lot of email from people begging to download software. I try to help folks who are working on actual projects and aren't just looking to boost their standings on vetusware or betaarchive or whatever site, but I don't always get it right. And on occasion I'll intend to reply, but don't have time in the moment, and it takes six months to unbury it and get it done. I somehow have let four years escape me between my last reply to Jos Dreesen about an in-progress ETH Lilith restoration. Patient reminders are rarely unwelcome.

I get why you do this, and it goes without saying that you're well within your rights to handle the software you own, in any way you see fit. Still grinds my gears like almost nothing else in the vintage computing community.

Yeah, I understand the reasoning there (color me absolutely unsurprised that betaarchive's "give us a unicorn or no cookies for you!" policy just results in a bunch of kids running around nagging people for unicorns.) Still, is there any reason you couldn't just toss it up on archive.org and be done with it?

RE: SunPaint, SunWrite, SunDraw - thunderbird32 - 10-26-2018

Hey now, I upload to BetaArchive myself. I buy the stuff I upload on eBay, fair and square. Tongue

Busy. That's legal. So at least I have to wait for further three years, no prob. Maybe a miracle will happen and I will find time again ... in 18 years. Ehm now "still" 17, offspring got one year.  Biggrin  - BTW, no account with vetus-/betaarchive, just a personal project

Similarly, IslandPaint, IslandWrite and IslandDraw 3.0 for IRIX are on HotMix 1.

These are COFF binaries (IRIX 4) and are "protected" with FLEXlm v2.1 (shudder Tongue )
