This is neat and rare. Challenge Vault M. The Indigo2 powersupply for molex blows my mind a bit lol. Also why the heck does it have a molex resistive heater in one bay. Ok and weird drive interposer too. I've had this forever. I've never ran it but I'm thinking it should happen. I have the matching Challenge S but can't seem to find my 8 pin serial cable.

* Switch mode power supplies often need a certain load to come up. The vault shares it's power supply with the Indigo2, but the disks inside may not draw current on all outputs of the PSU.
* Beware of (high voltage) differential SCSI. Do not connect to single ended or LVD SCSI controllers or something will burn. The Challenge S has a diff scsi controller.

Thanks for the heads-up on HVD! Burning would def be no bueno. Ah switch mode PS, I'll read up on this. cheers!

Nice! How many usable bays are there? Is it LVD compatible if you remove the HVD drive? Or are there other HVD parts inside?

Looks like room for 7 drives but I don't have the sled for the left rear compartment so 5 in the front half could be done. I don't see any other HVD components but I suppose it would be prudent to make sure the Molex lines from the distribution board are operating an correct voltage. Here is the drive map sticker from the front of the chassis:
