Octane frontplane NIC missing - bkd - 08-23-2019
One of my Octanes doesn't have NIC in its frontplane (and of course it boots with red LED and "nic_eaddr: Failed to find redable MAC NIC, rc 1" error). If I correctly understood it's DS1982 chip (https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Number_In_a_Can). I have no spare chip by now and wonder what if I buy one and insert into FP1? I think it may work somehow and be harmless but it won't include SGI system number and maybe other information.

If you're in the EU / UK I can send it to you for some postage money. It's a spare from an Octane I recycled last year.

Yes, it is. Thanks for your offer but unfortunately I'm not in EU/UK so will try to find some of these NICs somewhere else.

I just don't want to be out of pocket for postage money. Sorry I'm a bit broke atm. :/
