O2 blinking monitor - William D - 07-29-2019
I have an O2 R5000, when I start the machine up or move the mouse to wake the monitor it will flicker on and off, it will do this until I hotplug the VGA connector 1 to 4 times then it will be fine until I reboot it or wake it from power saving again. Any ideas? It's simple enough to fix, just an annoyance.

What monitor? Sounds like a dpms issue to me?

The monitor is an Acer AL2016W. What is dpms? It doesnt sound familiar to me.

Hello, it's stands for Display Power Management Signal. It's the signal that tells the display to go into sleep mode when the computer is not in use.
Can you check the pins on the VGA connection, one may have some fluff or may be pushed in. Have you tried another VGA cable?

I have used this same monitor and cable for years on my regular windows desktop with no problems, I had it hooked up again to that same windows machine with no issue.
