indigo2 wont power up - reed - 06-25-2019
hello all - i have an indigo2 that has not been booted for over 10 yrs and now it will not start at all...when the power button is pushed and held there is a one second pulse of something that barely moves the fans...i posted a vid here

talked to ian at sgi depot and he suggested that i re-assemble components outside of the case to see if there was a short on the case in some way...cleaned the dust off of everything, there wasnt too much...no luck, same behavior...
took psu apart and tested the fuses, they are good
i have taken psus out of pcs in the past to test them solo, but i dont know how to do this with the indigo2 psu as there is no on/off switch and i dont know how to jumper the plug to turn it on....longshot
i assume i need a new power supply but if there is anything else i can try , i would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar issue...thanks!!

Try powering it up with minimal hardware attached. Remove any expansion cards, hard drives etc. in case one of them has failed.

i got a refurb psu from sgi depot....still does not power on, i have re-assembled outside of case to check for any possible shorts, no luck...simply no power whatsoever...the board and card look brand new, no swollen or leaking pots whatsoever...mystery.....any ideas? thanks

well i bought a psu from england and it arrived dead unfortunately as i was convinced that my system was at fault in some way...finally caved and bought another psu of ebay and BAM IT WORKED....ALL SYSTEMS GO! but now i have $$$ into this venture
so now i have 2 psu from indigo2 that are not working, i bought a used one on ebay and i am now up and running...any interest / know anybody who would want these 2 broken ones for a rebuild? donation / pay for shipping from philadelphia.... hate to throw them in the recycler....
thinking of posting my system for sale purple indigo2 250mhz, 256ram, solid impact board, with ext 9 gig drive, ext cd drive, ext zip drive with all cables , working great....maya 1.5 and alias 8.5 installed and working great, don t really have the memory or the skills to use those programs anymore without really diving in and re-learning it all...also have all physical manuals and disks for maya 1, maya 1.5 and alias 8.5, but no irix disks unfortunately....cost over $60k in the 90s hahaha joke was definitly on us, we went out of business and i got the machine as back pay hahaha, should have sold it then but i worked way to hard to give it up
in philadelphia area , shipping this delicate stuff is a bad idea
