(Resolved) Indigo2 Impact 10000 Kernel fault on boot -

So, my machine is an indigo2 impact 10000, 175mhz, solid impact, 128mb.
it chimes, and there is video output, and I can get into the PROM, as well as command monitor and run hinv, what have you.
I got a booterizer server running to install irix, because it didn't come with a hard drive. I am able to boot fx and partition the drive, so no problems there.
I then start the install over the network, and it loads miniroot onto the disk. when it tries to boot into miniroot, however, the screen goes blank, and the LED turns amber.
I got a serial terminal working, and it spit out errors, image is attached.
any help on identifying the issue would be much appreciated, thanks.

That is definitely frustrating. A few things to check to start with: which version of IRIX are you attempting to install? Have you checked all internal connections to ensure there’s nothing loose (this is relatively unlikely since you managed to do everything else with no issue)? Have you tried pulling any RAM to see if you have any bad sticks?
These are just the baseline things I’d do to start. Not sure if you’ve tried any of them yet. Hopefully the collective knowledge here can help you get it sorted!

Im trying to put irix 6.5.22 on there. In troubleshooting, I pulled everything out to clean it with compressed air, reseated all the socketed chips and modules, pretty much checked every inch of the board, reseated ram, swapped the drive, you name it, ive pretty much done it. Still able to turn on, and get into prom, etc, but miniroot still panics.

Turns out it was unhappy graphics. Going to get a replacement solid impact card, and see if it helps.

Ahh. I’m glad you were able to track that down. I hope that resolves the issue completely!

I still have to track down a new graphics module, but the rest of the machine seems to be working fine.
