My First Character Nurbs Modeling in PA -
RetroGamer1985 - 03-24-2019
Hi Here is my first character modeling in nurbs with PowerAnimator, created with simple figures and basic nurbs modeling techniques like Skin and extrude, now i practice Patch modeling, and it's going to be very difficult because PowerAnimaton does not have Global Stitch as maya to join the corners.
this is my character in PowerAnimator

Fun character :-)
Power Animator looks to be a great retro 3D software. If you know Maya ; according to you, what is the most important differences between these softwares ?

thanks for you answer, my methodology of Modeling is this:
Low Poly = Softimage 3D
Mid Poly = Maya
High Poly = Zbrush
Nurbs = PowerAnimator/Alias
This metodology is inspired in the philosophy of Gumpei Yokoi the "Mature Technology", this means that Gumpei Yokoi used old components to create new products, an example is the Game Boy that is based on the technology of calculators.
This is based on my methodology: use old software to create new art

Make no mistake to call Power Animator "retro 3D software", as retro as it goes for years when it was made, behind of it lies the core engine of all "Alias" product lineup, including Alias Studio that was renamed later with some slight shift from animation to design. If not heard of it before - possibly the most advanced 3D editing engine on the planet to work with NURBS / surfaces in industrial design and such. If you download the latest version from Autodesk, you can still clearly see some core concepts that point straight back to its roots. Must be such a ingenuity and innovation moment to make software that someone will use 30, 40 and more years in the future, guys from Alias/Wavefront surely did their homework back then.
Btw. great work and philosphy @RetroGamer1985, keep up the good work

@ cybercow : Thanks for your feed back :-)
When I wrote "retro software", I didn't want to offend anyone and people who developped this tool are real genius… and according to me, we still can realize great things with old graphic software (with a lot of patience and obstinacy).
Edit : what is the min. config to install it ? Does it work with V8 config ?

Hey!, i'm sure no offense taken by anyone

I only wanted to emphasize that there is software and "software", Alias is beyond any comparison and a kind of piece of art per se, and i'm sure it will remain in some hall of fame if ever there will be one ... ////// Please look at the HCL but as i remember the V graphics was introduced only later at the time of transition to Studio era:
