IRIX emulation is here!

RE: IRIX emulation is here!
No, not really. .30 and .22 are the ones that matter. The Indy will not support .28

RE: IRIX emulation is here!
I'm currently using:
.\mame64 indy_4610 -gio64_gfx xl24 -hard1 .\roms\irix62.chd -window -resolution 1280x1024 -cheat -sound dsound -audio_latency 10 -sr 11025

The echo has slowed but still each sound section is repeated 3 times!

My machine is i9 9900k, 32GB RAM, RTX 2080 Ti. Windows 10.

RE: IRIX emulation is here!
Earlier in the thread. You shouldn't rely on the people here to offer support; because we are not developers. You can also open an issue on GitHub for it or use https://www.mamedev.org/irc.html their IRC. Unfortunately because the developers don't lurk here often, they are unlikely to see your issue and be able to advise further.

As IRIX emulation is so experimental, slow, incomplete and early, it's unreasonable to consider it fit for normal use. It's not like WinUAE or VICE in terms of completeness.

I got IRIX 6.5.28 ISO image. Is this useful for you?

I'm a beginer in mame and IRIX.
I have read https://wiki.irixnet.org/emulation. But I still can't install it independently.
I will try my best to install IRIX 6.5.28.

The last IRIX version supported on the Indy is 6.5.22. This applies to the emulator too. Check out these videos below for a conflict-free install with the 6.5 base, .22 overlays, and NFS. This will get you to a working desktop and you can install more stuff like demo CDs from the graphical installer. This is the guide I used to make the CHD that's hosted here and to install IRIX on my real Octane2. Also in fx you only need to label and sync and it'll work fine. Saves a lot of time.

In other news, the emulated Indy now has networking if you build from the latest GitHub sources. I haven't been able to figure how to properly set up the virtual adapter on Linux that MAME wants so I can't actually test whether it has internet access.

Octane2  R14k 600MHz, V10, 2GB RAM, 73GB disk, IRIX 6.5.22

RE: IRIX emulation is here!
While looking for some info on archive.org I stumbled upon this: Working Nintendo Ultra 64 SGI Indy HDD image for Irix 5.3.
It's here: https://archive.org/details/ultra64sgiindy
I downloaded the .ZIP file (around 800Mb) but unzipped it's a 16 Gb .img file.
I converted it to .CHD (again around 800Mb) and tried it with MAME. And it works!
It's IRIX 5.3 on a 16Gb HD with all the demos and a development directory containing BASH 3.0 (Bourne Again SHell).
Enjoy!

The whole Nintendo development toolkit 5.0 is also present with several games but of course you need the N64 development board to run them.

Not a bad find.

I would note that you should know Bash isn't the default shell on IRIX, nor is it native. Really, depending on what you want, tcsh can usually fill the basics with some slight changes to syntax.

RE: IRIX emulation is here!
Just out of curiosity, in the emulator you are using, emulating an Indy, is the audio normal or echoed too?

What is the version of emulator, S.O using in the emulator, the hardware configuration of Indy, and what is the configuration of the PC?

My PC: Intel i9 9900k, 32GB RAM, Geforce RTX 2080 Ti.

I am using the mame version 0219b.

Before I using:
.\mame64 indy_4610 -gio64_gfx xl24 -hard1 .\roms\irix62.chd -window -resolution 1280x1024
The echo was repeated several times and very quickly.

I'm currently using:
.\mame64 indy_4610 -gio64_gfx xl24 -hard1 .\roms\irix62.chd -window -resolution 1280x1024 -cheat -sound dsound -audio_latency 10 -sr 11025
Now, the echo has slowed but still each sound section is repeated 3 times!

The sound with my emulation setup is also very bad (echoes and quality) but I don't use it anyway, so it doesn't matter for me.
