i was already aware of it, but i'm also developing a competitor to it Smile

RE: Introducing ZuluSCSI - varomix - 05-14-2025

I just ordered one of this cards for my Octane, but I just realized it wont connect directly on the Octane, anyone knows how I can connected internally? is there an adapter for this?

Thanks

You need an SCA > 50-pin adapter, but honestly:

Sell the Zulu, buy some 10k/15k RPM SCSI drives. Zulu SCSI and similar devices are inefficient for a UW SCSI bus, they can't even saturate the bus if they tried.

Adapters like you need are rare/expensive.
SCSIKnife has a SCA option - I've not tried it though. You may be able to get closer to 20mb/s with overclocking in the latest firmware if the RP2350 is on there, I don't know what chip is used.

I have 2 drives, but there is a password, I want to use the Zulu as a replacement CDROM to install a fresh system, but I need to connect it somehow

I saw the SCSIKnife but I already ordered the Zulu, thanks

Just network install using LOVE or Reanimator. It's a way less stressful procedure.

https://forums.irixnet.org/thread-3819.html - LOVE

https://www.tech-pubs.net/wiki/Using_Reanimator_to_Install_IRIX - Reanimator

RE: Introducing ZuluSCSI - varomix - 05-14-2025

I have been trying to install using LOVE for 3 days and I can’t get it to work, finds the remote machine but it times out, I haven’t tried Reanimator.

The password can be changed in-place to a different encrypted (13 character) passwd, by editing the specific disk block where it is stored. You don't need CDROMs or network servers to do that.

I haven’t tried this myself, bc network install has been just too easy, but what what would stop someone from throwing the zuluscsi in an external enclosure, plugging that into the back of the octane, and proceeding to install from there?
(Actually curious)

Should work!
